THE BAKER'S DOZEN

How to keep your health (and waistline) while living the baked lifestyle

Clear your pantry/refrigerator of all temptations that consist of high sugar and fat. Ok, I’m not naïve enough to believe you won’t finish them…so when you finish them DO replace them with whole-grain, low-sugar or healthy protein options.  Also, remember that just because something is healthy does not mean you can have the whole container. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing but in times such as when you are under the influence of The Munchie Monster, restraint is hard to come by so keep measuring cups handy to aid with portion control.  With measuring cups you can be sure to satisfy your cravings and make it much easier to stop once it’s all gone.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

1)     1.  Food Should Taste Good© multigrain chips

2)    2. 6.5oz container of ice cream instead of the gallon

3)    3.  Apples with peanut butter

4)    4.  Celery, carrots, lettuce leaves with hummus

5)    5. Homemade guacamole instead of commercial dips

6)    6.  Plain yogurt with fruit, granola and honey

7)    7.  Edamame with sea salt

8)    8.  Cottage cheese with fruit, granola & honey

9)    9.  Whole-grain cereals with nuts

10)  10. 100 calorie packs of snacks

11)   11.  Dried fruit instead of white flour, high sugar treats

12)  12.  String cheese mozzarella sticks

13)  13.  Water, water, water…(often, your body will mistake thirst for hunger)
